EVENT PREVIEW: Wright Brings Points Lead to Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., (August 14, 2024) – Wright Motorsports continues to keep a firm grip on its championship points lead as the team heads into rounds nine and 10 at Road America. With five rounds remaining in the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge season, the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R, driven by Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer, holds a 36-point advantage over ST Racing. The lead positions the team for a strong push headed into the last few races on the calendar including the pair of races this weekend in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

"As we head into the final stretch of the season, our focus remains on consistency and execution,” said Team Owner John Wright. “Road America is a challenging track, but Adam and Elliott have proven their ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The extra track time two weeks ago gave us valuable insights, and we’re confident in our preparation for the weekend. Our goal is to maintain our momentum and continue building on the strong foundation we’ve established this year."

Adelson and Skeer recently competed at Road America during the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round, gaining recent real-time information that will serve them well as they prepare for the upcoming GT World Challenge races. The additional experience at this historic and challenging circuit, while not necessarily Porsche’s strongest track, has bolstered the team’s confidence. They aim to leverage this preparation to further extend their lead in the championship standings.

Proving to be a dynamic duo, Adelson and Skeer have earned seven podiums together so far in this season’s eight completed races. Their consistency, both on track and in the pit lane, has been the cornerstone of Wright Motorsports' success this year. With momentum on their side, Adelson and Skeer are determined to keep the pressure on their rivals as they approach the critical final stretch of the season.

Fans and racing enthusiasts can kick off the weekend festivities with a public celebration in the Village of Elkhart Lake. The event will feature a parade of race cars, live music, driver autograph sessions, and more. The festivities begin at 5:00 PM local time on Friday, with the cars and drivers departing at 7:45 PM to prepare for the weekend's racing action. The two 90-minute races are scheduled for Saturday, August 17, at 3:10 PM, and Sunday, August 18, at 2:25 PM CT. For those unable to attend in person, both races will be streamed live for free on YouTube at youtube.com/gtworld.

DRIVER QUOTES

Adam Adelson

It’s always great getting to race at the same track twice in a row! We’re currently leading the points, and our focus is on the championship. We’ll have really strong competition as always, and Road America isn’t typically the best for the Porsche, but we have the best team to maximize our potential. It’s time to put our heads down and focus for the back half of the season, and I’m really excited to see how this weekend plays out at one of the best tracks in the world.

Elliott Skeer

It’s like we’ve never left! I am super excited for the upcoming rounds of GT World Challenge, we have put in some fantastic prep work as a team and Adam and I sure know our way around there going into first practice. Ultimately we will treat it like every other weekend, to operate our Porsche at it’s maximum and execute the weekend to the best that Wright Motorsport can do.
