Porsche customer racing team takes final fight to Indianapolis Motor Speedway
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (September 3, 2023) – This weekend, Indianapolis Motor Speedway will serve as the battleground for the climatic conclusion of the 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge series, and Wright Motorsports enters the finale event as the Pro/Am points leaders. The final fight for the championship title comes down to Sunday’s Indianapolis 8 Hour, where 22 cars will compete not only for the prestigious event win, but also for double points in the final race event of the season. In the Pro class, drivers Jan Heylen and Madison Snow will be joined by Wright Motorsports IMSA WeatherTech driver and previous GT World Challenge America champion Trent Hindman in the No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Aiding in Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer in the No. 120 as they seek to secure the championship title will be IndyCar driver Callum Ilott.
“This is the fourth year in a row that we have been in the championship hunt in the final event of the year,” said Team Owner John Wright. “This is a true testament to the consistent execution of the drivers, the crew, and our Porsches. We started the season off strong and have only continued to grow and improve from there. Our pair of double wins at Sebring International Raceway gives us the perfect momentum to close out the year with strong results for both cars.”
The Porsche customer racing team recently celebrated a tremendously successful weekend with Heylen and Snow securing the overall and Pro class wins in both races at Sebring International Raceway, while Adelson and Skeer also celebrated victory by clinching both victories in the Pro-Am class. The double-win for the No. 120 provided a strong boost to the team and drivers in the championship points battle. They entered Sebring International Raceway four points behind Crowdstrike by Riley’s effort with drivers George Kurtz and Colin Braun and left the weekend with an 80-point lead in the team standing and a three-point lead in the driver standings. With a maximum 100 points remaining unclaimed, the 2023 champions will be crowned this weekend at the end of the exciting 8-hour event on Saturday.

DRIVER QUOTES

I’m excited to be back at Indy for the 8H. As a team we’ve had some bad luck here in prior years and we’re looking to turn that luck this year coming of two wins at Sebring and showing up with a strong driver line up! We welcome Trent to the team and together with Madison, the Wright motorsports crew, Porsche and the support of Charlie Luck, we have all the ingredients to have a good performance. I’m excited for the big car count and ready for some good racing.
Madison Snow
Indy is a different race for us so it will shake things up. We have proven we can win in the Pro class in the sprint races, now it’s our turn to see what we can do in an endurance race. We are fortunate enough to be joined by Trent Hindman, who will only better our odds with all of his Porsche experience. It’s going to be a long one at a (terrible track), but we will get through it and I’m sure the WM team has what it takes for us to end up bringing some more hardware this year!

I’ve been looking forward to the Indy 8 Hour for quite some time now. A massive debt of gratitude is owed to Charlie Luck, Jan, Madison, and the entire Wright Motorsports team for having me. This is one of the more significant races on the calendar for us, and having the opportunity to fight for an overall victory aboard a Wright Motorsports prepared GT3R is a genuine privilege.
Adam Adelson
Coming into this year, Elliott and I had clear goals of making this season a learning one. I had never driven a GT3 car before 2023 or anything even close to the pace of one, so I didn’t want to focus too much on achieving results. However, after Sonoma, we quickly realized that the off-season prep that Elliott and I did to get ready for GT3 racing was way more effective than we thought, and we understood that we had a chance to finish really strong in the championship this year. Now we’re going into the season finale as the championship leaders, we’ve had amazing success in the series (and even got some overall wins), and I couldn’t be more grateful and proud of what we’ve accomplished. I want to thank Wright Motorsports for taking a chance with us, and treating us like family right from the get-go. I also want to give a shout-out to George Kurtz and Colin Braun for being stand-up competitors and good sportsmen, it’s been a pleasure battling with them all year. Whatever happens this weekend, I will definitely look back on the 2023 racing season as my favorite so far, and we’re looking to finish it out strong.
Elliott Skeer
Going into the season finale not only in a position to fight for the championship, but with a one point lead is something out of a movie script. We have shown this year that when we put our heads down and execute as a team, we can achieve what we target. Adam has been driving brilliantly coming into this weekend and having a friend like Callum Ilott joining us gives full confidence in our driving, meanwhile seeing how the Wright Motorsport team have operated this season in endurance racing gives us every other bit of confidence we need. No matter how we finish at the end of eight hours I am immensely proud of this season, but we still have one race to give it our all and finish our season on the highest note possible.
Callum Ilott
I’m really looking forward to jumping back in a GT3 car for the Indy 8 Hour. I had a great couple of days testing a few months back with Wright Motorsports in preparation for this event. The Porsche felt amazing and I think we’ve got a great team with Adam and Elliott to get a great result and hopefully the championship in Pro Am.
